Iosif Sifakis honored by the Speaker of the Greek Parliament

The Speaker of the Greek Parliament Mr. Philippos Petsalnikos, implementing a decision taken in 2009 by the Board of Directors of the Parliament for Parliamentarism and Democracy awarded the distinguished researcher on Informatics Mr. Iosif Sifakis.
The Greek Parliament honored Mr. Sifakis for his scientific research work, through which the Greek scientist has gained international recognition and praise.
Mr. Sifakis informed Mr. Petalnikos that he made a deposit to the Solidarity Fund for the Reduction of Public Debt, in an effort to contribute to the amelioration of the financial issues that the country is facing.
Mr. Sifakis was born in Heraclion, Crete in 1946. He studied electrical engineering at Metsovion National Technical University and Informatics at the University of Grenoble under a French scholarship.
He lives and works in France for the National Centre for Scientific Research in Vermag laboratory, near Grenoble, whereby he is the founder.
In 2007 he was awarded the Turing award along with other researchers for their work on Model Checking, technology verification information systems.
