Temperatures are rising in all parts of the country with the maximum temperature in the middle of the week touching 40C. Thousands of Athenians as well as residents of urban centers have escaped from cities to spend the day in near beaches.
Meteorological Service has forecast rise in temperatures in the next days with maximum temperature in the middle of the week touching 38C -39C in some parts of the country.
On Sunday, the mercury will hit 36C in Athens, 35C in Thessaloniki, 37C in Thessalia. In the continental shelf showers or thunderstorms would pop up in the afternoon increasing humidity level.
Temperatures will remain high on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, in Athens 37C and in Thessaloniki 36C but will start gradually dropping from Thursday.
