A main opposition New Democracy (ND) sector head on Monday ridiculed the government’s call towards non-EU nationals in the country to submit documentation to acquire long-term residency permits.
Theodoros Soldatos, the secretary of ND’s immigration policy sector, said efforts by the PASOK government to make the acquisition of Greek citizenship easier for all foreign nationals will obviously lead such people not to prefer the long-term residency permits.”…
Even more so when with the Dublin II agreement, which was signed in 2003 during a PASOK government, legal immigrants in the EU’s southern states are blocked from blocked from going to the Union’s northern states.”
