Military Forces Retire After 35-years of Service

With up to ten additional years of service are imposed to the whole of the Armed Forces. The amendment contained in the Insurance Bill, (filed yesterday), increased to thirty-five years of actual service in the Armed Forces, plus five notional, depending on their service.
The years spent studying in the military and police academies will be considered as working time.
With the amendment, the Government seeks to put an end to the regime of forty-eight year old pensioners in the Armed Forces.
The signing was set yesterday between the Minister of Defense Mr. Venizelos and Finance Minister Mr. Papakonstantinou with the consent of the Minister of Police Mr. Chryssochoide.
For other types of high-risk specialties, the retirement years increased from 18 to 25 years.
