The 56 years old Panagiotis Simosis shot and killed three people yesterday in a traditional tavern in Eretria because of economic differences. Andreas Karmiris 34 years old, George Papadopoulos 40 years old and the lawyer Athanasios Thanos 52 years old are dead. Right after the bloodshed, the perpetrator took flight and a few hours later, after a phone call with the police, he surrendered in his house in Xalkida. Today, he is going to visit the Public Prosecutor.
The perpetrator said: ” I regret for what has happened. When they came back to menace me and ask me for money, i blurred. I took the gun and the rest just happened. I cannot remember anything else after that..”, says now Panagiotis Simosis, who insists that they blackmailed him. He owed 44.000 euros to the victims. The perpetrator accuses them of loansharking and he explains that they had recently become really coercive.
The society in Eretria is shocked. The perpetrator will show tomorrow morning at 08:00 a.m.
