A draft bill for reforming the public-sector pension system was passed by a majority of Parliament MPs on Thursday.
Articles 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7 of the bill were voted on in a roll-call vote requested by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), while article 10 was voted on in a roll-call vote requested by the Popular Orthodox Rally (LA.OS) party.
The amendment tabled on Thursday concerning armed forces staff was also voted on in a roll-call vote demanded by KKE and LA.OS.
Of the 285 MPs present during the vote, 156 voted in favour (PASOK) and 128 opposition MPs voted against and one voted ‘present’. Three independent MPs, including Kostas Kiltidis and Dora Bakoyannis, were absent.
