42% of Greeks spend around EUR 94/month on gambling

77% of Greeks are against the idea for gambling to be put under state’s control, Vima daily informs, citing results of a sociological survey carried out by VPRC.
Citizens are firmly against the expansion of the gambling market despite ‘the social price’, which the government tries to achieve by launching new measures for boosting state revenues.
Poll results state that more than 2/3 of Greek citizens are against cabinet’s plans to place 50,000 slot machines and other gambling games throughout the country.
According to the survey, 42% of Greeks spend money on gambling, as the average monthly sum runs to round EUR 94. 13% of the respondents do not play any gambling games, while 20% say they have close friend with such a problem.
