23rd Conference of Overseas Cypriots Held in Nicosia


Cypriots living abroad returned home for a five day conference that opens on Tuesday August 24th at The Hilton in Nicosia. The 23rd annual conference is organized by POMAK and PSECA, with the full support of the Cypriot government and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  The opening ceremony will take place Tuesday at 7 pm. Inaugurating the works of the conference of The World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (POMAK) and The International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSECA), as well as of the Meeting of The Executive Council of the World Organization for Young Overseas Cypriots (NEPOMAK) will be the President of the Republic Demetris Christofias. The welcomig speech will be delivered by  Cypriot Minister for Foreign Affairs Marcos Kyprianou.
During the ceremony speeches will be addressed by the President of the House of Representatives Marios Garoyian, the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Markos Kyprianou, the President of the World Federation of Overseas Cypriots (POMAK) Haris Sophoclides, the President of the International Coordinating Committee Justice for Cyprus (PSEKA) Philip Christopher, and the President of the World Organization for Young Overseas Cypriots (NEPOMAK) Christos Karaolis.
The latest developments in the Cyprus problem will be among the main issues to be discussed during the meeting. An overview of the activities of the various federations of overseas Cypriots and a presentation of activity reports will also be made. Participants will also be briefed by leaders or representatives of parliamentary parties.
A press conference will take place on Saturday August 28th at 10am in the Hilton’s Othello banquet room following the 23rd conference’s conclusion.
