The government’s decision to proceed to a second tariff suspension and merger in the public services and organizations was announced in Parliament by Deputy Prime Minister Theodor Pangalos. He stressed that all parties are responsible for the overload and expansion of the public sector. Pangalos described the previous wave as a: “first try to gather up the economic aspect of the public sector and we will continue”.
Pangalos continued: “The second package messieurs concentrate on savings in the public sectors accounting and conservation efforts. We are all responsible for the overload of personnel in the public services, even small parties of the left that don’t govern, but follow the same practice through their local administration and controlling…The answer towards the citizens outrage when saying how the money was ‘eaten’; is that we appointed you over all these years in the public sector. We all together wasted public money with the use of mall practice”.
Pangalos admitted that pressure was put on the issue of AGROGI.  He claimed: “so that some gentlemen are not exposed…to make a step of complicity, but I did not accept”.
In the beginning of the meeting Minister of State Affairs Yannis Ragkoysis determined that the second tariff of suspensions and mergers will be done with the running of a new Bill.
The Minister reiterated that employees in merging services will keep their jobs with the exception of those in AGROGI, as recruitments where not made by appropriate rules.
