Annual Athens Cycle Tour Takes Place on October 10th

Staged for the first time in 1987, the Athens Cycle Tour is one of the city’s most popular sporting institutions. This year the event is going to take place on Sunday October 10th. During the Tour all central roads of Athens will remain closed for safety reasons. The Tour will include two different paths depending on the abilities and frame of each cyclist. The long distance cyclists will start from the Panathenaic Stadium  and will ride about 8 km. The smaller path is suitable for children or the disabled and will start from Syntagma square. The cycle Tour is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m sharp. Each year it attracts thousands of Athenians as well as international entries, of all ages who take part in the non-competitive event.  The tour also promotes the bicycle as an ideal means of transport for those who reside in congested cities.
