Regional Election Diaspora Greek Voters Far from Satisfactory

Only 13% of immigrants and 2.3 % of Diaspora Greeks had the right to vote and registered in the electoral catalogues for the regional elections in November. More specifically, out of the 77.984 foreigner who have the right to vote, only 10.097 registered in the electoral catalogues.  From 115.000 Diaspora Greeks, only 2.665 eventually registered.
The percentage of Diaspora Greeks who showed interest to vote is estimated to be far from satisfactory. The expression of interest, according to officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs is due to beauracratic difficulties regarding the lack of an electronic record by the Greek Police; similar to that of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
