As IMF Chief Travels To Athens, Protestors Plan Demonstration

The head of the International Monetary Fund is due in Athens on Tuesday for a two day visit.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn will meet with Greece’s Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Opposition Leader and Central Bank Governor among others.  He will address Parliament’s Economic Affairs Committee.
Strauss-Kahn is expected to respond to questions from Greek members of Parliament and to discuss details of the so-called memorandum (a loan deal agreed to and signed by the Socialist government, the IMF and the European Union) and the policy of the Washington-based organization.
Left-wing unions planned to hold demonstrations in Athens to protest Strauss-Kahn’s visit and the strict austerity program.
