Greece:48-Hour Information Blackout, New Transport Strike

Greek journalists have today joined the protests against the austerity package with a 48-hour strike that will black out written, TV and internet-based news until19/12. All urban and rail transport are partially striking again today for four hours from midday.  Strikes are scheduled for next week. Transport workers on the Athens tram and metro network vowed to continue their labor action with strikes continuing until next week.  Specifically, on Monday, 20/12, the blue buses are on strike from 9:00 to 21:00.  On Tuesday, 21/12, all transports will stop from 12:00 to 16:00.  On Wednesday, 22/12, there will be a general 24-hour strike. On Thursday, 23/12, the blue buses will stop until 9:00 am and from 21:00 pm until the end of the day. The remaining public transport lines will be on strike from 11:00 am to 16:00pm. On Friday, 14/12, there will be a public transport halt, because of a general assembly.
