Merchant groups on Monday called for the suspension of public transport strikes in the greater Athens area. They want to allow shoppers easier access to the Greek capital’s commercial centres, amid ongoing and rollover strikes, a plea that was partially fulfilled by unions.
Specifically, all public transports will operate normally between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday.
For Friday, Christmas Eve, official statements regarding mobilisations have been announced.
“The country’s businesses and people are collateral victims in the confrontation between the government and vested interests,” Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEA) President Constantinοs Mihalos stressed.
