Christmas Carols in Every Corner of Greece

Today most Greek children went from door to door according to the tradition to sing the Greek carols. At the doorstep they are greeted by the house owners which give them money and baked goods.

However, this year is different. The majority of Greeks are numb because of the fiscal crisis that made their lives much more difficult. Despite their problems, everybody tries to celebrate these days and the Christmas spirit seems to have appeared in Greece today.

It is worth noting that every local area of Greece has its own version of Christmas carols that has been passed on from generation to generation from many years ago.
