Greek Priest Knocks on Affluent Doors for Donations for the Poor

Father Thomas is possibly the only priest in Greece who knocks on the doors of singers and businessmen in night clubs.  He makes his rounds to collect donations for the poor. Recently Father Thomas visited several night clubs to collect food and money for a charity fund. Famous singers such as Vassilis Karras, Nikos Oikonomopoulos, Nino, Kelly Kelekidou, Antonis Remos and Anna Vissi support the mission of the priest. “I don’t feel like doing something bad. I sell coupons, as I also do during the day. I have many friends, singers and businessmen who work at night and are always ready help me. Vassilis Karras sent me 200 liters of olive oil of his own production, as well as two cars full of food. Antonis Remos offered 2,000 cans of milk. Some people buy coupons, other give food”, said the priest. “I do not beg. I only ask for help. Singer Giannis Parios disappointed me a lot, not because he did not want to support our mission but because he was very ironic. I do not press anyone to help, but I cannot allow anyone to doubt about our mission”, he added.
