In a statement on Thursday, the National Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Keelpno) said that a total of eight people have died from the H1N1 flu virus in Greece. Two deaths were recorded over the past twenty-four hours.
Another nine people were hospitalised in Intensive Care Units due to serious complications from flu-caused infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 54 victims.
Of these, twenty-eight are still in ICUs, while the other twenty-six are out of danger and have been moved to other hospital wards or have returned home.
