The Greek capital Athens, which has been paralysed by strikes, violent clashes between demonstrators and police, is apparently the worlds most “flirtatious city”. According to website badoo.com which has analysed 12 million flirts in 180 countries, Athens came top Moscow ranks 2nd, Rome 8th, Madrid 31st, Paris 38th, London 57th, Berlin 79th, New York 89th, Rio 151st.
The Lonely Planet Encounter Guide to Athens author Victoria Kyriakopoulous said the results are hardly surprising as the Greek capital is a seductive city, with a hedonistic lifestyle. She said the internet is just a new means to the age-old dance of attraction and love. “Old people flirt, married people flirt, now young people are simply using technology to do what Athenians have always done.”
The Greek capital is not just the world’s most flirtatious city but also among its oldest, dating back at least 3,400 years. “Athens was the birthplace of Socrates, Aristotle, Plato and Western philosophy itself”, says Lloyd Price, Badoo’s Director of Marketing. “Once again, it leads the world.”
