Greek Hotels Plan To Attract High – Income Tourists

Greek hoteliers prepare a new package to attract tourists of the highest income class.
They plan to “unite” –providing a common brand name- small luxury hotels located in the Greek islands, so the customers could be accommodated in two or more hotels, which would offer identical services, while traveling from one place to another will be made by luxury cruisers.
Hellenic Hotels Federation President Andreas Andreadis said that Greece has to reestablish itself on the tourist map, while everyone should realize that the country posses a brand name. Product differentiation is essential in order to gain a leading role in the growing part of tourism such as luxury tourism.
Greek tourism is fragmented and trapped in the hands of tour operator, which form the image of Greece.
Mr. Andreadis commented that if Rhodes had more top hotels, then mass tourism would have more surplus value for the local economy. The idea is to combine traditional with the modern and offer a high standard product.
The merger of small luxury hotels, which are spread in almost all the Aegean and Ionian islands, is necessary combined with the luxury yachting in order to create conditions to attract high-income tourists. Greece would whisk away the brand of a low-budget destination.
