Holy Light to Arrive Saturday Afternoon in Athens

The Holy Light from the Holy Sepulchre Church of the Resurrection of Christ will arrive from Jerusalem on Saturday, in an annual Orthodox Easter ritual that brings the flame to worshippers around Greece.
The Holy Light will arrive the day before Easter, at 6:30 p.m. at Athens’ ‘Eleftherios Venizelos’ International Airport on a government executive flight, where it will be received with heads of state honors.
A Greek delegation, headed by deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Dollis and comprising parliamentary representatives from ruling PASOK, main opposition New Democracy (ND) and Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) parties, will arrive in Jerusalem on Saturday morning to attend the ceremony of the lighting of the Holy Flame.
The Holy Light will then be given to Greek and other delegations by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem.
After its arrival in Athens, the Holy Light will be conveyed on special flights by C-130 Airforce planes throughout Greece for the midnight Resurrection services.
