Greece finalizes decisions on strict caps for each ministry’s expenditure, providing that in case of a minister that cannot meet demands, they would require a supplementary budget by the House, ensuring the funds through cutting of another ministry’s spending.
This regulation is included in the medium-term program of €78.4b, which is finalized no later than Wednesday, according to the Finance Minister Giorgos Papakonstantinou. It would be initially approved by the cabinet, before sent to Brussels.
The government promotes the closer monitoring of ministries’ expenditure, combined with the stricter supervision by troika’s officials, which would be communicated as “technical support” in order to overcome and reactions. These two measures are promoted as a counterpart to avoid some of the proposed tax measures.
