Greek Power Summit Concludes in Midst of Angry Protests

The 9th Greek Power Summit 2011, ended on a positive note with those participating agreeing that with restructuring and changes in attitude, Greece could once again recover and be on the road to prosperity.
Steve Koukis, CEO of Temenos group spoke about Ethics and Leadership. In an emotional speech, he analyzed his journey and the way he built his banking software giant starting with a very small capital. What Greece is missing is Leader ship and unemployment is also the largest of Evils.
Mr.Pagidas, President of the Association of Greek Executive Officers, commented, “The prime Minister has not given us any clue where we are going. Greece can become a success in the Balkans but we need to know where we are heading and today we don’t. We should stop expecting answers from the government. The Greek businessmen have to start to bring investors to Greece themselves, Don’t expect things to happen with Government institutions, they are working to please their bosses. The Greek government should just simplify the process.
Steve Forbes talked about “Great Leaders of the ancient world and of today” He claimed “that a lot could be learnt from history and that dealing with the crisis was now or never”.
The summit concluded in the Grande Bretagne in the midst of tear gas and clashes between thousands of angry protesters and the Greek Police.
Ironically , the message of the conference and the protesters outside is the same, that Greek politicians have been corrupt and changes need to be made to the foundation of the country. However the angry mob kept banging on the hotel’s protective metal shields and expressed their outrage towards the conference.
Commenting, John Calamos spoke regarding the gap between the protesters and the powerful Greeks of diaspora inside the Grande Bretagne and said “that a new party will be necessary to create a bridge between the two”. He added “We need a new party and we need to rethink about how to bring money into the country’.
The founders of the conference announced that they will continue next year with another Greek Power Summit to serve as a network for rediscovering our values.
