The Institute of Neurology and Genetics have announced a three-year innovative research project on breast cancer.
The Chief Executive Medical Director of the Institute, Philippos Patsalis stated at a press conference that, “The collaboration of research and clinical services is crucial, because in order to give the best service possible one must have the latest knowledge that is acquired only by keeping oneself at the forefront of knowledge, doing research.”
The Institute’s Head of the Department of Electronic Microscopy and Molecular Pathology, Kyriacos Kyriacou explained that the research project: “Study of genes and proteins involved in the development of breast cancer in Cyprus will break new ground in a better understanding of the mechanisms involved in the development of breast cancer and therefore, in discovering ways of more effective prevention, early diagnosis and treatment.”
