Air Traffic Controllers Schedule Strike During Peak Season


Passengers flying this Tuesday, the 28th of June and Wednesday, the 29th of June have to double check their schedule as many flights are expected to be cancelled or rescheduled due to the general strike.
The participation of the Air  Traffic Controllers in the 48-hour general strike of the General Confederation will cause disturbances due to the fact that it is peak season and a lot of travelers were about to visit Greece.
The union has planned four 4-hour strikes:
Tuesday, the 28th: 08.00-12.00 & 18.00-22.00
Wednesday, the 29th: 08.00-12.00 & 18.00-22.00
A similar decision was taken by the Federation of Associations of Hellenic Civil Aviation.
Tuesday: 07.00-12.00 & 18.00-22.00
Wednesday: 07.00-12.00 & 18.00-22.00
To avoid further inconvenience, it is advisable to check flight timetables prior to traveling. Although there will be a strike, some flights will be allowed:
a) flights with politicians and officials directing from FIR Athens to Macedonia.
b) scheduled official exercises
c) emergency air crafts
d) flights of emergency cases
e) flights of the Prime Minister
