Over 650,000 Russian Tourists Plan Travel to Greece this Year

Greece expects more than 650,000 tourists from Russia this year, stated Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism George Nikitiadis in the Russian state news agency ITAR-TASS.
“In 2009 160-170 thousand Russian tourists visited our country, in 2010 about 380,000 and this year, according to my estimations, we expect more than 650,000,” said Mr. Nikitiadis, reassuring that the demonstrations in Athens will not affect the resorts that Russian tourists choose.

Referring to the overall tourist traffic in Greece, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism told ITAR-TASS: ”The number of tourists and consequently, the revenues of the country will increase. That’s what the statistics showed in April and May,
and the tourist traffic will remain on a high level up till November judging from the already existing bookings, so I’m convinced that this is a very good year, which will lay the groundwork for even better results in the future,” said Mr. Nikitiadis.
