Kazantzakis Museum Faces Possible Closure, Crete

    by -

The Kazantzakis Museum in Crete faces a possible closure, because it does not have any financial resources apart from the donations and revenues of tickets.

An appeal for help was made by the Board Council of the Museum, while the severe financial difficulties could lead to a closure, as basic functional costs cannot be covered.

The Museum was founded in 1983. Melina Mercouri was present at the opening ceremony. The whole idea was sponsored by  the EU and donators who wanted to contribute.

This unique museum is the only one operating in Greece. It hosts significant items. Personal items, souvenirs, documents, personal theatrical letters and manuscripts of Nikos Kazantzakis are presented in the building.

This original Museum is about to close if no solution can be found. The Board appeals for help to everyone who admires Kazantzakis and wants this idea to continue. Any kind of contribution is helpful.
