It is very possible that for the first time after 30 years, the Festival of Patras-Institution of Ancient Drama might be cancelled. As the Organization of Artistic Event says, there is no money for even for the operating costs.
Their work has been recognized by the public and has contributed to the improvement of the culture and tourism sector as well as the development of the province. During the last 30 years, events of the festival have taken place. For example, at the historic monument of the Roman Conservatory of Patras and at the Castles of Rio and Patras.
But now local authorities do not seem to be interested in this important and successful festival. Only the Chamber of Achaia, the company DUR and the Long Distance Greek Bus Operators (KTEL) have supported them financially this year.
