Greece Offers Any & All Assistance to Cyprus


The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labrinidis stated that Greece is ready to give any kind of help to Cyprus, after the destruction of the naval base in Limassol. However, the Cypriot side announced that no external help was necessary for the time being.

Labrinidis sent his condolences to his counterpart Kyprianou about the tragedy that happened to the national naval base.

Minister of National Defense, Mr. Panos Beglitis, announced that: “On behalf of the Greek government and the Prime Minister I would like to send condolences and our sympathy to the Cypriot Hellenism, to the President of the Cypriot Democracy, Mr. Christofias, to the government and to every political power about this tragic incident,which has overwhelmed Greece and Cyprus, and left victims. To the families of the victims we send our deep sympathy.”

According to his statement he has already contacted his counterpart, C. Papacostas and has expressed his deep sympathy. Greece and the Ministry of Defense is ready to offer any kind of help, that is necessary.
