Greek Seas Valuable for the Survival of Sea Mammals

Greek Seas constitute a valuable place for the survival of rare species which are very important for the marine ecosystem of the Mediterranean Sea.
In the Corinthian Gulf, there are three different species of dolphins, a unique phenomenon in the whole world and generally Greece is a very important area for whales in the Mediterranean Sea and also for one of the rarest species on the planet, the Monachus monachus seal.
However, according to research carried out in October of 2010, it seems that the majority of the Greek public does not know not only the importance of these species but not even the fact that they live in the Greek Seas. As a result of this ignorance and of the general unfriendly attitude towards the environment, the sea mammals are becoming extinct as their population is being reduced.
