Christofias Requests Minister of Foreign Affairs to Remain in Position

President Christofias has requested Kyprianou to remain in his position. The Minister of Foreign Affairs resigned after the explosion at Mari naval base. The president of the Cypriot Democracy also stated that those responsible for the explosion will be found and sentenced by the courts and not by individuals.
Christofias supports the opinion of the parties that “indignant” protesters should not gather today, July 19th, outside the Presidential Palace, as those people who lost their lives in 1974, must be honored by those who want to make tributes.
The President notes, that on July 19th, those people who lost their lives at Mari will be honored as well, but Cyprus cannot allow anarchy. No individual should take justice in his hands as democratic processes must be followed.
