''Blue Flag'' for Nine Beaches in Volos

Nine blue flags are waving from today, July, 22 along the shoreline of the Municipality of Volos. Nine beaches have been awarded with the ”Blue Flag” international symbol. The city of Volos occupies a high position among the cities of mainland Greece that have been awarded the Blue Flag for 2011.
Specifically, the Blue Flag beaches are Anavros, Xenia, Peykakia, Alykes, Alykes Plage, Amaryllis, Amfanes, Xrisi Akti (Aisonia) and Barba Tomas (Soutrali, Agria).
The mayor of Volos, Panos Skotiniotis stated that “the long shoreline of the new Municipality of Volos, 56 km long, with the high quality of waters, the beautiful beaches, the functional organization, the safety of swimmers and the natural beauty compose an ideal destination for both foreign and Greek visitors who choose our region for short trips or vacations. ”
