The ERT Music Ensembles will participate in two cultural activities in the region dedicated to Hellenes abroad, in the beginning of August. On Wednesday, August 3rd at 21.30, the Modern Music Orchestra of ERT will appearĀ in the anniversary concert “When Gods Celebrate” to celebrate 20 years of Hellenes Abroad, in the chapel of St. John in Makrisia, Olympia.
Fotini Darra, Petros Gaitanos and Kostas Macedonas will sing in the concert. Thanasis Polykandriotis and Manolis Karantinis will also attend the event.Ā The Orchestra will be conducted by Andreas Pylarinos and the event presented by John Tzouanopoulos. Admission is free.
On Friday, August 5, at 21.00, the ERT’s Modern Music Orchestra and Choir will participate in the “Concert: A Tribute to World Peace and Love through the Poetry of Nikiforos Vrettakos,”Ā in Sainopouleio Theatre, in Sparta.
The concert, organized by the Greek Congress of Quebec, the Peloponnese region and the Municipality of Sparta, will present the cantata “To Robert Oppenheimer” and the song, “If You See the Sunshine Beckons to You,” in the poetry of Nikiforos Vrettakos and music of Nikos Kallitsos.
Soloists Sofia Kapetanakou (mezzo soprano) and Michael Dimitrakakos (tenor) will participate in the concert.Ā The musical direction will be by Andrew Pilarinos and theĀ instruction of the choir by Dimitris Bouzanis.
The concert is a fundraising charity event and the funds collected will go to theĀ Chronic PatientsĀ Welfare Foundation Saint Panteleimon, to Nikiforos Vrettakos Files and to Greek schools in Montreal.Ā ERT SAĀ is the sponsor of the event.
