Cyprus: New Cabinet Announced Friday

President of the Republic of Cyprus, Demetris Christofias, appointed a new cabinet, it was officially announced Friday morning.
The new Cabinet comprises of:
Minister of Foreign Affairs – Erato Kozakou Markoullis
Minister of Finance – Kikis Kazamias
Minister of Interior – Neoclis Sylikiotis
Minister of Defence – Demetris Eliades
Minister of Education and Culture – Giorgos Demosthenous
Minister of Communications and Works – Efthymios Flourentzos
Minister of Commerce Industry and Tourism – Praxoulla Antoniadou
Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment – Sofoklis Aletraris
Minister of Labour and Social Insurance – Sotiroulla Charalambous
Minister of Justice and Public Order – Loukas Louka
Minister of Health – Stavros Malas.
Three Ministers (Neoclis Sylikiotis, Sotiroulla Charalambous and Loukas Louka) continue in the same Ministries, while Minister Markoullis who served as Minister of Communication and Works in the previous Cabinet assumes the Foreign Ministry. Minister Demetris Eliades who served as Minister of Agriculture assumes the Ministry of Defence.
The new cabinet will be sworn in at noon at the Presidential Palace.
President Christofias proceeded with a government reshuffle, following the collapse of the coalition government when the Democratic Party (DIKO) announced its decision Wednesday to pull out of the government.
President of DIKO Marios Garoyian said Wednesday that DIKO withdraws from the government, which also includes ruling left-wing AKEL party, due to “serious different approaches on the Cyprus issue“.
