The fire department is working to extinguish fires that broke out in a mountainous region in Sithonia early this afternoon.
According to observations by the fire department, the fire broke out in a forested area between the villages Nikiti and Neos Marmaras.
Terrestrial and aerial fire-fighting forces are in working hard in the area.
Meanwhile, another fire is burning the forestial area of Kalogeros in Skopelos.
The fire, caused by a lightning strike, is currently burning the pine trees of the forest, while the inaccessibility of the area makes the mission of the fire extinguishers challenging. Two firefighting helicopters and an aircraft are trying to extinguish the fire.
