Wall at Evros Soon to be Built

According to an article in the Greek newspaper “Ethnos”, the construction of the wall at the region of Evros will begin shortly.  The wall will be 10.3km long and will cost 5.498.000 euros.
The technical description of the project will be published on the website www.opengov.gr for public consultation until August 20. Afterwards, those who are interested in undertaking the project will be able to apply to the Technical Branch of the Hellenic Police.
The wall will be built from the northeastern part of Greece along the borders with Turkey, from Kastanies till the river Evros.
The wall is being built with the hopes that combined with the other security measures, illegal immigrants will be discouraged to enter the country. The wall will include double fencing 2.5m and 3m high and wire netting.
