High Rate of Greek Tourists in Albania

Every year more and more Greeks, mainly from Northern Greece, choose to travel to Albania for their summer holidays, finding descent hotels and rooms, beautiful coasts and prices so low that spending a night at a five star hotel at Agioi Saranta with full board costs 100 euros per night. A hotel manager in Chimara said that 30% of their clients are Greek and every year that rate increases. Big hotels of Agioi Saranta offer special holiday packages for Greeks in cooperation with travel agencies in Athens, Thessaloniki, Larisa and Corfu.
At the same time, many Albanians are returning to their country to work in the tourism sector, as the unemployment and economic crisis in Greece does not permit them to stay in the country.  Thus, the Albanian coasts have become more appealing to tourists and to investors.
