More than 30,000,000 vehicles have crossed the Rio-Antirio “Harilaos Trikoupis” Bridge since the 12th of August, 2004, when it was opened to traffic, marking the eve of the Olympic Games in Athens, 2004.
Construction of the bridge began in December 1997, and more than 1,00o people worked for its construction. According to the construction company’s statement, the bridge is an international award-winning technological and anti-seismic innovation and received much acclaim for its social and environmental responsibility.
Today, the Rio-Antirio Bridge still employs 100 people.
