Greece Large Banks In Major Initiatives Regarding Proton Bank

Greeceā€™s four largest banks (National Bank, Eurobank, Alpha, Piraeus Bank) informed the Bank of Greece that heave decided to respond positively to the proposal of Proton Bank and participate in necessary initiatives for a new era of the bank, based on comprehensive business plan and in conjunction with the current administrative changes in Proton Bank.
According to a statement, the four banks consider positively their participation in the already decided share capital increase of Proton, through a convertible bond loan of ā‚¬50 million.
Simultaneously with the reshuffle of Proton board, the Bank of Greece has appointed its own Commissioner to facilitate and support the operation of the new board.
The new directors of Proton Bank are executives with long experience and trusted by the Bank of Greece and the four banks.
The board of Proton will have examined all the options of strategic alliances as soon as possible.
These actions and initiatives form the framework of purification and new course of Proton Bank.
