The Deputy Minister of Development Harris Pamboukis made the decision to quit after Mr. Papoutsis commented on his statements regarding the need to reestablish the Ministry of the Merchant Navy.
Mr. Pamboukis also asked for the integration of the Port and Coast Police in the Ministry of the Merchant Navy as they have now come under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Citizen’s Protection.
Mr. Pamboukis feels he is undermined by members of the government and he decided to quit for the sake of his dignity. As he stated, he only wanted to promote a sector that is important for the country. He says he is not interested in power and ministerial posts.
Mr. Pamboukis thanked the Prime Minister and his colleagues for their support and wished that the government successfully continues work.
