Patients Financially Support the Hellenic Health Care System

According to the newspaper Eleftherotypia, during the last season, Greek citizens gave 13.8 million euros to hospitals.  Citizens have been paying 5 euros for entering the out-patient clinic and 69 million euros for visiting doctors during the day.
However, the quality of services is lower since the purchases of medical material were reduced by 12.27% in 2011. Also, medical equipment was not repaired.
However, government officials in Troika presented statistics showing that the expenses have been reduced, since the purchase of medical equipment and material has decreased.
However, the funds for the Health Care System are expected to rise thanks to the fact that the prices of the medicines will be reduced. The government hopes that the medicines will be 10% cheaper from now on and thus the Social Security Funds will have to pay less.
