The teleconference between Evangelos Venizelos and troika officials came to end around 11 o’clock. Troika officials will be back in Athens next week to continue negotiations regarding the next trench and the new measures Greece has to take. Evangelos Venizelos issued a statement noting that there was considerable progress and that troika officials will arrive in Athens next week in order to take care of technical details. Question remains of course when these measures will actually be announced officially.
Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos will resume the talks in Washington DC this weekend when he attends the annual IMF meeting .
Papandreou will chair a Cabinet meeting at 11:30 a.m. Athens time today to discuss the content of the talks with the so-called troika team, which comprises the EU, European Central Bank and IMF.
