Cinematic Zorba House in Crete to Become Cultural Centre

The house located at Stavros Akrotiri in Crete, associated with the film “Zorba the Greek” (1964), based on Nikos Kazantzakis’ book “Life and Adventures of Alexis Zorbas”, will be turned into a cultural centre.
The issue was discussed in a meeting held at Chania City Hall, between Mayor Manolis Skoulakis, Deputy Mayor, responsible for cultural issues, Demetris Leipsakis, the Chairman of the International Society of Nikos Kazantzakis’ Friends, George Stassinakis, and a representative of the Society in Chania, Sifis Micheloyannis. The idea had been previously discussed in an event held two years ago at the former Akrotiri Municipality.
A special event entitled “Kazantzakis and Zorba” is scheduled to be held in Chania in 2012.
