Sesquicentennial Celebration of Greek Stamps

The sesquicentennial celebration of Greek stamps will be hosted at Zappio Megaro, Athens from the 1st to the 9th of October. Hellenic Post presents a unique exhibition of rare documents and historic material.
“This is the very first time we have ever opened our archives. We selected the rarest stamps to be exhibited in this event. In this way we hope to present the Greek history as a whole through different periods’ stamps and documents”, said Mr. Panagiotis Vournas, President of the Hellenic Post during his press conference.
The history of the Hellenic Post is directly connected to the history of the country and its evolution throughout the years.
The exhibition includes different series of stamps, which have travelled all around the world and made the Greek spirit and presence widely-known, as well as the first Greek stamp of Hermes Head, which has been the first official representative of the Greek culture abroad.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Greek Tourism Organization (EOT), while the President of the Hellenic Republic is expected to visit the exhibition next Friday as well.
