Cruise Ship Minerva Docks at Thessaloniki Port

Cruise ship “Minerva” dropped anchor today in Thessaloniki port during her first and last journey with availability for this year. Its 335 passengers will have the opportunity to wander around the old historic city and buy souvenirs before departing to Lesvos at 11pm tonight.
Minerva, which embarked on her journey from Istanbul, is carrying this year English, Canadian, New Zealander and Australian passengers. The cruise ship has been docking at Thessaloniki port once or twice a year for the past 35 years.
The oldest maritime agent in Thessaloniki, Mr. Vikos Palantzian underlined that this year has not been one of the best for cruises in Thessaloniki but added that the next cruising season is expected to be much more prosperous.
Until November, three more cruise ships are expected to dock at Thessaloniki port. More particularly, on the 25th of October the U.S. cruise ship “The World” is scheduled to arrive and spend two days at the port, while two days later “Arion” is expected to dock there too. The arrival of “Arion” is not certain because the existing passenger reservations are too few so far and this could mean that the journey could be cancelled even at the last minute.
