Changes in Sector-Wide and Labour Contracts

Labour & Social Insurance Minister George Koutroumanis announced the extension of business labour contracts in enterprises with a workforce of less than 50 employees. Because of this, the extension of sector-wide agreements is hindered.
Minister Koutroumanis noted that collective labour agreements are not going to be abolished, emphasizing that Troika has invited social partners in order to discuss about the increase of competitiveness.
According to a cabinet member, during the meeting was being discussed the facility of making business labour contracts even in enterprises with a workforce with less than 50 employees.
Moreover, emphasis was given to the fact that National General Collective Labour Agreements are not going to be abolished and additionally that the business labour agreements can be signed either by an association or a union, on the condition that the union represents 2/3 of the workforce in an enterprise.
In addition, there will be a set-aside of the extension of sector-wide agreements for the following two years, even concerning enterprises that did not take part in negotiations about the signing and the conclusion of the agreement.
As far as lower wages are concerned, it has been announced that troika demanded the determination of the lower wages, while Government explained that general wages’ cuts will influence Greek economy.
As concerns the Welfare Fund of Public Servants, it will be a cut of 15% concerning the one-off allowance for everyone who has submitted a retirement application during 2010 and a cut of 20% for those submitted an application during 2011.
Moreover, retirements of IKA-ETAM are facing a cut of 30%, only if they are worth 170 euros and more.
Another cut of 15% is imposed to the supplementary pensions of TAYTEKO, that concerns employees in banks and public utility enterprises.
All the above mentioned regulations are going to integrate in the bill of the Finance Ministry, that is under conversation by the Parliament.
