The euro zone is working on a “July 21-plus” package for Greece, that country’s finance minister said on Saturday, referring to the July decision by euro zone leaders on a second Greek bailout package.
Greek Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos told reporters on his way into a meeting of European Union finance ministers that “the point now is to implement a decision of 21st of July-plus.”
Earlier Saturday, Austrian Finance Minister Maria Fekter said the euro zone is in the process of agreeing a concrete mandate for a senior official to negotiate with Greece’s private creditors over their contribution to the second Greek bailout package.
Venizelos said “in any case, Greece is not the central problem of the euro zone” and that the region now needs to take “more constructive” decisions to tackle the spreading debt crisis.
