According to an announcement of the Interior Ministry in Sofia, the four Albanians that were arrested in Bulgaria under European Arrest Warrants have been turned over by the Bulgarian police to the Greek authorities.
The four Albanians have been wanted by Greece through the Schengen Information System for kidnapping, robberies, and extortion, the Bulgarian police explained.
The suspects – who are three men aged 23, 28, and 30 and a 23-year-old woman – were arrested by the Bulgaria Border Police near the Gyueshevo crossing point on the Bulgarian-Macedonian border in July 2011.
The four Albanians were found to have 254 euro notes, of which 222 were found to have been given to them as part of a ransom payment for a kidnapping they committed.
The Bulgarian police handed them over to Greece on Monday after completing its investigation about their illegal trespassing on Bulgarian territory.
