Reichenbach: Greece Has €60 Billion In Unpaid Taxes

Greece has €60 billion in unpaid taxes, said an EU Task Force, headed by Horst Reichenbach, who highlighted fighting against tax evasion as one of the top priorities of the team.
But the probability of collecting most of this sum is “very low”. Only an amount of €8 billion can be collected more or less quickly,” an EU official told Dow Jones Newswires.
In addition to fiscal consolidation as an important first step on Greece΄s long road to recovery, the country has also begun a programme of profound structural reform and work towards a more efficient public administration. Following the economic adjustment programme the Greek government has taken some important first steps in this direction over the past 18 months.
