Citizens in Mytilene welcomed the new Development, Competitiveness & Maritime Deputy Minister Adonis Georgiadis from far-right LAOS with eggs and oranges.
Local police had to protect him twice and guarantee a safe passage.
Firstly, an angry crowd had gathered outside a government building in the island’s main port and attempted to break in. The crowd chanted slogans “The Junta didn’t concluded in 1973″ while pelting Georgiadis with local products.
The second incident occurred, when protesters found out Georgiadis was visiting the local television “Archipelagos” to give an interview. Again the protesters gathered outside the building and police had once again to provide an escape for the Minister.
