Catastrophic Fires in Three Cypriot Shops

According to police authorities, a fire of unknown origin broke out on Saturday and destroyed  three shops located in the tourist area of Ayia Napa in Cyprus.
The fire damages amounted to several hundred thousand euros, with only one shop having insurance coverage.   There were no victims in the fire that started at around 3 am in a cafeteria in the Limanaki area and spread to the two other shops.
Police and fire experts investigating the cause of the fire did not rule out any possibilities, including arson. Police Chief George Economou told ‘Famagusta Gazette’ :”At about three o’clock in the morning a fire at a cafe near the harbour spread to two adjoining shops which were destroyed. We have not discovered the exact cause of the fire”.
According to ‘Famagusta Gazette’ , firefighters quickly got the heavy flames under control, but stayed at the scene for more than two hours putting out hot spots.
